Teaching Philosophy

I believe that children are the leaders of the future and that all children deserve an equal chance at having access to receiving education. Piaget’s Constructivist Approach states that children learn best through hands-on experiences. I believe that my role as an educator is to create an environment which encourages children to be inquisitive learners and provide opportunities for creating their own knowledge through first-hand experiences. During my experiences at Wheelock, I have seen how focusing on the process of learning would bring about a more positive learning experience for children, as compared to focusing on creating the end product.

As an educator, I believe that learning does not end when the school day is over, and should also be extended to learning at home. I strongly believe in forging partnerships with families and have open communication with them so as to better understand the family’s culture, as well as understanding how we could better support the child’s learning both at home and in school.

My goal as an educator is to help children to be independent learners with a heart for others.
